France - An Odyssey

Frank Hodgkinson
14 April 2012 - 10 May 2012

This rare and intimate collection of drawings by one of Australia's most eminent artists captures the characters, ambience and urban landscape of Paris and France in 1947. Drawn from the artist's sketchbook, this important exhibition provides a personal record and history of post-war France.
"These drawings executed with pen and ink and coloured washes, hardly have been rivalled in verve and evocation of the world's most exciting city by an Australian artist, and are really a precursor to Brett Whiteley's Regard de Cote drawings four decades later." Barry Pearce Senior Curator of Australian Art, Art Gallery NSW (1978-2011)
