Although these mixed media works were created locally in Wollongong (NSW) in mid-2020, the iconography is based on sketches from the Nigel Sense's travels through Indonesia, just prior to the pandemic. The transference of imagery to found objects - recycled paper bags - expresses the immediacy and scope of imagination and idea. These 10 works on paper are simultaneously observational and playful.
"These works are named after towns in Indonesia that the sketch was done at. Imagery is based on fragments put together of things I’ve seen, like patterns, objects, architecture or people. When COVID hit, and I came back to Australia, I kept seeing on the news panic buying so I thought I would it would be funny to use shopping bags and malts bags to paint on" - Nigel Sense.
All works unframed except for 'Malang'. Please contact the gallery for a postal or courier quote, or framing quote if desired.
