Genevieve Carroll’s energetic and vivid oil paintings combine her observations of being engaged deeply with the natural world and the genre of Still Life painting. The everyday objects of bowls, cups and jugs that are entangled in her paintings, reference historically our struggle with the brevity and gravity of nature.
“My paintings are inspired by the idea of uncertainty in the natural world and it’s close companion, the gravity of life. Still life objects are at the heart of my paintings that normally in this genre are portrayed as inanimate, but my interests lays in the emotion of our existence using colour and the idea of the instability of nature that we are all a part of, a mutability one might say“.
